About
Hobbs is a Philosophy Lecturer at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. He teaches such courses as philosophy of human nature, ethics, American philosophy, and political philosophy. Having taught for three years previously at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN, Hobbs earned his Ph.D. (2008) from Southern Illinois University (M.A., Southern Illinois; B.A., West Georgia College). His current research includes three main areas: (1) John Dewey's relationship with various developments in American anthropology; (2) Dewey's (and other pragmatist's) relationship with ancient philosophies including Epicureanism; (3) pragmatism as an approach to philosophical consideration of mortality.
